Mehreen Rashid is currently the Deputy Director of the State Demonstrations Group (SDG). In this role, she helps oversee the Group’s policy work across Divisions and supports Division management in achieving their priorities. Prior to joining the Office of the Group Director, Mehreen served as the Deputy Director for SDG’s Division of System Reform Demonstrations, where she led SDG’s policy development for several high-priority demonstration initiatives including delivery system reform and payment reform, value-based care, the Healthy Adults Opportunity, social determinants of health, and maternal health. She has valuable experience in all phases of the lifecycle of section 1115 demonstration work, having previously served as both a technical director and project officer in SDG. Before Mehreen came to CMS in 2014, she worked for five years in the HHS Office of Budget as the lead analyst for budget and policy development for federal Medicaid spending and other related CMS programs. Mehreen received her Master of Public Administration from George Washington University and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
