HIPAA Guidance
The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) issued additional information related to telehealth and the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rule. The guidance also includes FAQs to assist covered entities in complying with the HIPAA rules when OCR's telehealth notification is no longer in effect. OCR developed this guidance to help covered entities understand how they can use remote communication technologies for audio-only telehealth in compliance with the HIPAA rules, including when OCR’s Notification of Enforcement Discretion for Telehealth Remote Communications during the COVID-19 PHE (“Telehealth notification “) is no longer in effect.
